Several of Scott Westerfeld books have been optioned for films. Leviathan won the 2010 Aurealis Award for the Best Young Adult novel category and in the same year won the Locus Award for the young adult novel category.īehemoth made it to the finalist round during the 2011 Andre Norton Award, and in the same year, the same story was listed in the fourth position during the Locus Awards for YA book category. Uglies series won the Hal Clement Award in 2006 during Golden Duck Awards subsequently, in 2005 The Secret Hour the debut book in Midnighters won Aurealis Award. The American and New York bestseller novels have won and been nominated for various awards. Other works include Leviathan trilogy which consists of Behemoth, Leviathan, The Manual of Aeronautics, and Goliath. Westerfeld has also written a graphic book series called Shay Story. The author has written four books that take place in New York City which are The Last Days, Afterworlds, Peeps, and So Yesterday.
He began writing career mainly focused on adults novels but later switched to Young Adult with the Midnighters series. Scott Westerfeld is popularly known for the Uglies series, other books written by the same author include The Killing of Worlds, the Risen Empire & Afterworlds. He currently lives in Sydney and New York and has over 18 books written under his name, thirteen young adult novels, and five adult novels. The year 2002 was the turning point in his life, as Westerfeld married the love of his life, Justine Larbalestier, an Australian author. He started composing songs as a teenager, and currently, the author writes songs for modern dance.
Westerfeld attended Vassar College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1985.
